Systems Consultant/Student Services (NY HELPS)47

Promotional Qualifications:

One (1) year of permanent competitive class status in the title of Information Systems Coordinator; or, two (2) years of permanent competitive class status in the title of Systems Training Assistant.

 Open Competitive Qualifications:

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Baccalaureate degree in Education, Business or Computer Science or a closely related field and two (2) years of full time paraprofessional or professional level work experience, or its part time equivalent, in analyzing, evaluating, organizing or planning the use, or potential use of a computerized record keeping system in order to improve the work flow or meeting work and/or school objectives.

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associates degree in Business or Computer Science or a closely related field and four (4) years of full time paraprofessional or professional level work experience, or its part time equivalent, as described in (A) above; or,

 C. Six (6) years of full time paraprofessional or professional work experience, or its part time equivalent, as described in (A) above.

 NOTE: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's degree in Educational Administration, Business, Computer Science or a closely related field may be substituted for up to one year of work experience.

Commensurate to Experience
Assistant Director of Special Education108

West Genesee CSD is currently accepting applications for Assistant Director of Special Education. This is a full-time, twelve-month appointment. Appropriate certification and experience required.

JOB GOAL: To assist the Special Education Director in the supervision of the special education personnel and programs and to ensure that the programs are in compliance with all state and federal regulations. 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 1. Develop close working relationship with building principals to provide support for the special education and related services programs.

 2. Assist the Director in chairing the Committee on Special Education and Committee on Preschool Special Education meetings and conduct the related CSE/CPSE business per the regulated timelines.

 3. Assist in the preparation of all State Education Department annual reports.

4. Act as a liaison between the BOCES programming and the District and parents to ensure meaningful communication, continued student progress and quality of program.

 5.  Act as a liaison with preschool programs to ensure appropriate programming and transition to West Genesee.

 6. Facilitate school psychologists, speech/language and occupational and physical therapists monthly meetings to ensure effective programming.

 7. Coordinate summer school programming and itinerant related services with BOCES.

 8. Provide training and support to all special education staff in collaboration with the Director of Special Education.

 9. In collaboration with the Director of Special Education, facilitate the implementation of IEP Direct.

10. Performs related duties as assigned.
