Job Description

Promotional Qualifications:

One (1) year of permanent competitive class status in the title of Information Systems Coordinator; or, two (2) years of permanent competitive class status in the title of Systems Training Assistant.

 Open Competitive Qualifications:

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Baccalaureate degree in Education, Business or Computer Science or a closely related field and two (2) years of full time paraprofessional or professional level work experience, or its part time equivalent, in analyzing, evaluating, organizing or planning the use, or potential use of a computerized record keeping system in order to improve the work flow or meeting work and/or school objectives.

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associates degree in Business or Computer Science or a closely related field and four (4) years of full time paraprofessional or professional level work experience, or its part time equivalent, as described in (A) above; or,

 C. Six (6) years of full time paraprofessional or professional work experience, or its part time equivalent, as described in (A) above.

 NOTE: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's degree in Educational Administration, Business, Computer Science or a closely related field may be substituted for up to one year of work experience.

Job Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of the use, function and potential of computerized student record keeping services as they apply to pupil personnel management and student services in an educational environment.
  • Skilled use in the capabilities involved in the input and output of computerized data.
  • Skilled use in the student record keeping needs and objectives as they apply to a school district's administrative and pupil personnel practices and procedures.
  • Skilled use in the function and operation of the computer terminal, its language and codes.
  • Ability to communicate the system service goals and objectives, to individuals and groups to stimulate their interest and participation.
  • Ability to train user personnel in the operation and application of new, modified or expanded procedures of a computerized student record keeping system.
  • Ability to organize and present thoughts and procedures in a clear, concise and thorough manner.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to lead discussions and make formal presentations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school district personnel and computer center staff.
