Custodial Worker I (Civil Service)


Position Details

  • Title: Custodial Worker I (NYS Civil Service)
  • Location: West Genesee Central School District, Camillus, NY
  • Appointment: Full-Time, Twelve-Month
  • Hours: 3:30pm - 11:30pm
  • Salary: $19.00 per hour
  • Start Date: Immediately

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

A Custodial Worker I performs routine cleaning and semi-skilled maintenance tasks and is responsible for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of a school building or an assigned section. Duties typically include:

  • Performing a variety of cleaning tasks (e.g., sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming floors; dusting and polishing furniture; cleaning walls, restrooms, and fixtures).
  • Making minor, non-technical repairs to building and equipment.
  • Moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
  • Operating and maintaining building cleaning equipment (e.g., buffers, floor scrubbers).
  • Performing general grounds-keeping tasks such as snow removal or lawn care as needed.
  • Reporting maintenance needs or concerns to a supervisor.

Employment Conditions

  • New York State Education Department Clearance: Appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting clearance from the NYS Education Department as required by the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation.
