Job Description

The West Genesee CSD has an immediate opening for a full-time, twelve-month Custodial Worker I at our High School. The work hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm. Salary: $19.00 per hour

Key Duties and Responsibilities

A Custodial Worker I performs routine cleaning and semi-skilled maintenance tasks and is responsible for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of a school building or an assigned section. Duties typically include:

• Performing a variety of cleaning tasks (e.g., sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming floors; dusting and polishing furniture; cleaning walls, restrooms, and fixtures).
• Making minor, non-technical repairs to building and equipment.
• Moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
• Operating and maintaining building cleaning equipment (e.g., buffers, floor scrubbers).
• Performing general grounds-keeping tasks such as snow removal or lawn care as needed.
• Reporting maintenance needs or concerns to a supervisor.

 

Job Qualifications

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Onondaga County Department of Personnel (or relevant Civil Service rules). Minimum qualifications for this title in NY State include:

• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma;
• OR, one (1) year of full-time paid work experience in building cleaning or maintenance;
• or, an equivalent combination of education and experience as defined above.
